Our Staff Welcomes You

Thanks for taking time to learn more about ORBC and our family. It is our prayer that by allowing you to know more about us, you will allow us to know more about you and together we will truly be “The Family of God”.

Galen K. Cooper

Senior Pastor

Pastor Galen has served in this position since February, 2006. He is a graduate of Trinity Valley Community College with an Associate of Arts, LeTourneau University with a B.S. in Business Management and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity with Biblical Languages degree.

Pastor and his wife Lania have three children: MeKenzie, Brice and Carson. Coaching, cheering for, mentoring and just hanging out are ways they attempt to be good stewards of the investment God has given them.

As avid sports fans, the Coopers enjoy Texas Longhorn and Dallas Cowboy football, March Madness and the Olympics. Pastor and Lania enjoy ministering and participating in Mission trips together and Pastor G says that he is enjoying the beauty of God’s creation as he walks among the many trees and fairway hazards on golf courses he visits in the area.

RosaLee Alfred

Minister to Children and Families

RosaLee began her love of children’s ministry in 1997 as a volunteer, coordinating children’s fellowship and outreach events at UvaldeBaptistChurch in Houston, Texas.  Her love for children blossomed and grew into a passion to see children discipled into fully devoted followers of Christ and the church created a full time staff position of Minister to Children and Families which she held until 2006.

She felt the call to Oak RidgeBaptistChurch in April of 2006 where she continues to serve families with the same passion that lead her to ministry in 1997.  RosaLee has been married to her high school sweetheart, Rick, for 29 years.  They have one daughter, Stacie, who is married to Oscar and they live in Humble, Texas.  It is RosaLee’s commitment to serve the families of Oak Ridge and the surrounding community with devotion and to love, nurture and teach the children that God entrusts to the ministry.

Her motto for success is:  “Know when to stop and play! “ Her life scripture is:  Proverbs 3: 4-5 and her 2009-10 guiding scripture is Romans 12:2.

Brad Heller

Minister, Education and Administration

Brad has been a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church since 1999 and been on staff since 2007.

He and his wife, Devon, met in Saudi Arabia, have been married for 26 years, and are the proud parents of two sets of twins: Ian, who serves aboard a U.S. Navy submarine; Chelsea, who teaches at a local high school; Sienna, a senior chemistry major at Texas A&M; and Colin, who lives with his wife, Sarah, in Waco, where he works at a company he co-founded.

Brad earned a B.A. in English (Writing) from Penn State University and is currently working toward his Master of Divinity at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Neal Matthews

Minister to Students

Neal has served as the Minister to Students since January of 2009.  He is passionate about leading young people to become fully devoted followers of Jesus.  Currently, he is completing his undergraduate degree at the College of Biblical Studies-Houston.

Neal married his high school sweetheart in June of 1999.  Traci is a vital part of the student ministry at Oak Ridge.  She shares Neal’s passion for students, and works constantly beside him to fulfill their calling. Traci recently joined the staff as Ministry Assistant to the Pastor. They have one son, Tyler, who is a very busy 4 year old. He can often be found behind a drumset, across from someone at a ping pong table, or following close behind his daddy.

The Matthews family loves spending time at a beach, taking the occasional cruise, or catching the latest Cirque du Soleil show in town.  They feel truly blessed to be a part of the family at Oak Ridge Baptist Church, and consider it a privilege to serve the Lord by serving His people.
