Purpose:        The purpose of W.E.E. Grow is to provide a Christ-based Weekday

Early Education Program for children and to serve as a ministry to

ORBC Church family and an outreach arm to the Oak Ridge North

                        community.

Goals:

Our goal is to partner with parents to build a framework of spiritual, physical, mental, emotional and social development of preschool children and to develop skills, beyond the industry standard, that are needed to embark on their educational and life journey.

Teaching Objectives:

*Grow in understanding of themselves and how they relate to others

                         in the world.

*Partnering with parents we strive to develop natural creativity

in each child and help parents and the child recognize and expand

their uniqueness.  We will incorporate creative expression in music,

                         art and interactive learning/play.

*Grow in the awareness that God loves them and that Jesus is their

                          personal friend and savior.

*Grow in their abilities to develop language skills.

*Grow in their ability to solve problems and exercise critical thinking.

*Develop a love for others and recognize their responsibilities in their

                         community.

If you make a payment after the 15th you will incur a $15 late fee.  Returned checks will incur a $15 fee.

directly to the staff person waiting with your child.

Children in Distress:

Some children have a difficult time adjusting to a new situation.  We want time away from the parent to be a happy one, therefore, for the little ones who cry, we will be very patient and understanding—we feel it is best that they not be allowed to be upset and crying for more than 1 hour before we call the parent.  I have found that if your child has a tendency to cry when you leave him/her they will cry less if you take the time to explain what he/she will be doing during the day and that you are leaving but will be coming back.  Then say “goodbye” and leave.  Please do not linger at the door, even if your child  is upset.  This often creates more anxiety on the child’s part.  Usually the child is playing happily before the parent reaches the car.

Other:            1.  Please label everything that your child brings!!  Before leaving

each session  make sure your child has all his/her belongings.  Please

do not send toys to school with your child unless we are having a

special emphasis day and you receive a note allowing them.

                        2.  Send a full change of clothes in case of accidents.

                        3.  It is preferred that children wear rubber soled shoes. (please no

                        flip flops for safety reasons)

Well Child Policy:

Your child’s classroom will be cleaned and sanitized before each

session.  Please help us keep our children healthy by observing our “Well Child Policy”.

Your child should be excluded from class:

                        1.  If he/she has had fever in the previous 24 hours.

                        2.  If he/she is experiencing signs suggesting illness (lethargy,

irritability, persistent crying, or difficulty in breathing.)

                        3.  Vomiting or diarrhea in the previous 24 hours.

                        4.  Rash accompanied by fever.

                        5.  Drainage or redness as possible indicators of conjunctivitis (pink

                        eye)

                        6.  Head lice or scabbies.

                        7.  Strep throat (until after 24 hours of antibiotics has be initiated.)

                        8.  Visibly open wounds or sores.  (Cover them with band aids, please)

                        9.  Runny nose (except clear)  We realize there are times when runny

noses and eye redness and drainage are caused by non-communicable

allergies.  Please alert us to those situations.

                        10.  Please make sure we are aware of any and all allergies, no

matter how insignificant you feel they are.

Lunches:       We ask that children bring a lunch with them each day.  We prefer

foods that are easily served—nothing that requires heating (finger

foods are best).  Please do not send candy or gum.

Snacks:          Your child will be given a snack each day.  On special occasions we

will ask parents to bring treats for parties.  When your child has

a birthday you may send a special treat for the class—but please

make prior arrangements with the teacher or Children’s Minister.

Teacher Conference:

Please keep conversations with the teacher at the beginning and end

of each class brief.   You will receive regular updates via your child’s

folder.   Should you have a need to share important   information about

your child please speak to the WEE Grow Director or the Children’s

Minister or write the teacher a note and give it to her along with a

Contact phone number so that she can call you during an off period.

We are excited that you have decided to embark on this journey with us and are entrusting us with your child.  Your child is precious to us and it is our prayer that W.E.E. Grow will be a wonderful blessing in his/her life.

Visitation:     We are excited to partner with parents—especially on special event

days and invite you to be a part of those days.  Please read all notes

sent home to be aware of those special invited times.

The First Day:

The first day of class you may walk your child into the classroom and

help them put away their backpack and lunch box and help them find

their seat.  Please feel free to take videos or pictures of your child up

to 9 am.  At 9 am ALL parents will be asked to leave and class will

                        begin.

After the first day:

Parents should park and sign their child in at the check in counter.  .

Please let your child go into the room—put up their belongings—and

find their seat themselves.  This helps them to grow independence                         and gives them a sense of confidence.

Graduation:

In May we will host a Graduation Program.  Five year olds will wear

a  cap and gown and receive a diploma (there is a cap/gown fee-it will

be minimal and you will know how much it is when you register

your child for the Spring Semester.

Calendar:      Attached to your registration packet is a list of the Fall Semester

                        Sessions.

2010 Fees:
